Professional History
Michael B. Canton, M.Ed, LPCC is a Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor in the State of Ohio who counsels clients at PsyCare’s Howland and Cortland Clinics.

Michael interned at the Youth Development Center in Hudson, Ohio where he counseled adjudicated youth from Cuyahoga County. Michael also has experience as an Emergency Prescreener with Coleman Professional Services in Warren. There he screened patients at Trumbull Memorial Hospital and St. Joseph Warren Hospital for admission into Psychiatric Units and diversions to lower levels of care.

In addition, Michael worked as a Professional Counselor at Allied Behavioral Health Services in Austintown, where he counseled Federal Bureau of Prisons inmates through the Community Corrections Association. Michael’s counseling experience with teens and adults in residential, hospital, and private practice settings give him a clinical foundation for his work as a counselor.

As a Graduate Assistant Coordinator at Kent State University, Michael co-taught Wellness for College Life and Beyond to freshman students. Michael’s interests in holistic health, wellness, and spirituality have led him to study a variety of approaches and therapeutic frameworks he uses to customize treatment to each individual client’s healing needs.
